OCEP Summer Workshop for Science Educators - Charleston, OR

June 27th to 30th, 2016 in Charleston, Oregon 
Science Educators 6th-12th grades

Come to the coast this summer to learn about how the Oregon Coast Education Program (OCEP) can support you and your students with best practices in coastal and marine education! Educators will take part in an in-depth experience to explore the practice of science in a diversity of coastal habitats in Newport and Charleston. Topics include coastal ecology and habitats, impacts and solutions, climate change, working with data sets and making connections to the Next Generation Science Standards. Each workshop includes materials, meals, and 3 nights of dorm-style lodging.  

This workshop includes:
• 3 nights of dorm-style lodging, meals and material
• Registration discount for NAME members*
• Graduate credits are available through PSU (at your expense)
• Planning time for your Coastal Education Plan (CEP)

Following the workshop, OCEP coordinators will be available to support you as you implement your Coastal Education Plan in the Fall of 2016.  Teachers who implement a CEP and complete an evaluation will receive a $150 stipend.

This workshop is open to all 6th-12th grade educators teaching science subjects, although preference will be given to partner or team teachers from the same school.

Registration fees for this workshop:

$90 per person or $75 for Northwest Aquatic and Marine Educators (NAME) members

If needed, full refunds are available up to a week prior to the workshop at 11:59 p.m. June 20, 2016. After that a late fee of $25 will be charged and the remainder will be reimbursed. This allows us to contact interested people on the waitlist ahead of time.
