Welcome to NAME 2022 Coastal Re-Connections: Outdoor Explorations from the Forest to the Sea! After spending two years teaching and learning virtually, we feel it is time to reconnect with our colleagues and with the environment we love. Netarts Bay, Oregon is the perfect location for our Outdoor NAME 2022 Conference. Nestled between Cape Meares and Cape Lookout, this community offers opportunities to explore and learn about coastal dynamics including the impacts of climate change and the connections between our fresh and saltwater communities.
During the conference you will have the opportunity to learn of the geologic and indigenous history of the area, explore tide pools, dunes, the bay and coastal forest, discover new curriculum opportunities for students of various levels and to share your experiences and curriculum. Field experiences each day offer opportunities for kayaking, stand up paddleboarding, crabbing, clamming, hiking, and playing in the dunes. Evening activities bring beach bonfires, outdoor games and music, and our fabulous gala on the outdoor deck at the Schooner.
We invite anyone who has a passion for water and believes that every human on earth should be water-literate, that using the allure of water enriches and facilitates learning, and that sharing our knowledge and experience with others creates a community of informed stewards, to participate in NAME and this conference.
