Oregon Coast Education Program Winter Workshop for 6th-8th grade educators
March 8th, 2014 in Bend, Oregon at the High Desert Museum.
Join the Oregon Coast Education Program as we explore connections between climate change, Cascade glaciers, and the Oregon coastline. This free workshop is designed for 6th-8th grade science or contained classroom educators. Topics include fundamentals of climate change science, use of long term data sets, thermal expansion, heat capacity, sea level rise, glacial melt, and and introduction to OCEP's resources. These hands on activities are designed to be used in the classroom and right outside the door (no crampons and harnesses necessary!) and align with the Next Generation Science Standards.
Please choose from one of the two dates to attend at your convenience. Lunch and refreshments will be provided at this free to attend workshop. Professional development units and continuing education credits will be available through Portland State University (credit cost not covered by OCEP). Opportunities for follow-up sessions are available during Spring 2014.
