Come to the coast this summer to learn about how the Oregon Coast Education Program (OCEP) can support you and your students with best practices in coastal and marine education! Educators will take part in an in-depth experience to explore the practice of science in a diversity of coastal habitats in *Newport.  Topics include coastal ecology and habitats, impacts and solutions including climate connections, working with data sets and making connections to your schools. They include 3 nights of dorm style lodging, meals and materials.  Current NAME members receive a discount on registration (learn more here: http://www.pacname.org/memb.shtml) Professional development units and continuing education credits will be available through Portland State University (cost not covered by OCEP).

For more information on the Oregon Coast Education Program please visit our website here: About OCEP.
*Please note that we are offering this workshop the previous week June 25-27, 2014 in Charleston, OR in a separate registration link.  An additional workshop designed for 6th-12th grade science teachers will be offered August 13-15th, 2014 in Charleston, OR in a separate registration link.
This workshop is open to all 3rd-8th grade educators teaching integrated subjects including science, although preference will be given to partner or team teachers from the same school.

Following the workshop, OCEP coordinators will continue to support you during implementation of your coastal education plan (CEP) during the school year and provide field experience funding (limited to Oregon educators only).  Teachers who opt to implement a CEP are required to complete an evaluation and will receive a stipend at the conclusion of the school year.  During the 2014-15 school year, OCEP coordinators will meet with participants in their regions for small group work sessions to integrate teaching partners who were unable to attend a summer workshop.
